Cultural
Cultural Activities are a specific extension of the language curriculum where children begin to acquire a sense of historical fact, classification of physical geography and an appreciation of cultural differences.
Practical Life
Practical Life is the study of self-help skills and focuses on the four major areas, Care of Self, Care of Environment, Grace and Courtesy, and Movement.
Sensorial
Sensorial uses a multi-sensory approach to education. Children are encouraged to learn by processing information gathered through the senses.
Math
Math continues the cognitive math development that began in the Practical Life Skills and Sensorial curriculum, taking an acute focus and more abstract thinking process with concrete materials.

The Essentials

Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic educational environment for Students with Disabilities (SWD). We primarily serve students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and also support those with dual diagnoses, including Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) and Visual Impairments (VI).
We serve students in grades K–12, with every child’s educational program individually designed and implemented through a continuous, multidisciplinary approach. Our highly trained educators and therapists work collaboratively to ensure each student receives the personalized support they need to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our Curriculum
Mountaineer’s School of Autism utilizes a wide variety of instructional resources tailored to each student’s developmental level and learning style. Tools may include manipulatives, kinetic sand and therapy putty, iPads and computers, textbooks, workbooks, and hands-on learning materials.
We incorporate established curricula such as Abeka and Attainment, along with a rich selection of interactive and sensory-based resources. Our flexible approach ensures every student is supported in a way that best meets their abilities and encourages confidence, independence, and success.

Admissions
Mountaineer’s School of Autism has created a thoughtful admissions process that supports families while ensuring we can appropriately meet each child’s unique needs. This process allows families to learn about our program and helps us determine whether Mountaineer’s is the right fit for their child.
